Which size do I need?

DL fits an A4 sheet folded in three, so it's the one for letters and invoices. C5 takes A5 flat or A4 folded once. C4 takes A4 flat, ideal for brochures and documents you don't want to fold.

Yes, on DL, C5 and C4. The window sits on the front, bottom left, and lines up with the address on a standard letter. The window area can't be printed, so keep your design clear of it. Window C5 envelopes are printed in black only.

Can I print on the back and the flap?

Yes. Choose Both Sides and you can print on the back, including the flap, for a return address or a short message.

How much of the envelope can I print on?

Up to about 35% of the envelope gives the cleanest result: a logo, return address and a line or two of text. If you want solid colour all over, get in touch and we'll quote for it.

Do envelopes need bleed?

No. Printing doesn't run to the edges of an envelope. Keep everything inside the print area marked on the template, at least 10mm in.

Yes. Peel off the strip and press the flap down. No licking, which makes big mail-outs much quicker.

90gsm is the standard weight for business post. 100gsm feels a little more solid, which is handy for C4 envelopes holding brochures or thicker documents.

Can I choose black only or full colour?

Yes. Black only is the most economical and works well for a return address. Full colour shows off your logo in your brand colours.

Is there a Saver delivery option?

No. Envelopes come with Standard or Express delivery, both free to the UK mainland.

Will you check my artwork?

Yes. File Check is free and selected by default: our prepress team check size, resolution and more, and contact you if anything needs fixing. If you'd rather we fixed the problems for you, choose File Assist. We'll resize, fix fonts and correct the layout for a flat fee. Nothing goes to print until the artwork is right.

Can I send my artwork later?

Yes. Place your order and email your artwork over when it's ready. Production starts once we have it.

How long will my order take?

Pick a delivery speed in the price table. The estimated delivery date for each speed is shown at the top of its column and updates for the quantity you pick.

Artwork checklist.

Get these right and your envelopes print exactly as designed. Our free File Check catches problems before anything is printed.

01Download the template for your size, window and sides from the packs above. It marks the print area and the parts that can't be printed.
02Supply a PDF in CMYK at 300dpi, with fonts embedded or converted to outlines.
03No bleed: printing doesn't run to the edges, so keep everything inside the print area, at least 10mm in.
04Keep the window and the area around it clear.
05Cover no more than about 35% of the envelope. Logos, return addresses and short messages print best; solid colour across the whole envelope needs a quote.
06For black-only envelopes, set everything in 100% black.
